Apollo Minerals is an Australian iron ore exploration company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX:AON). Apollo Minerals has two iron ore projects, being the Mount Oscar Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia and the Commonwealth Hill Project in the Gawler Craton of South Australia.
At Mount Oscar, Apollo Minerals has a total exploration target of 500 million tonnes of magnetite-bearing banded iron formation (BIF) grading 31-37þ.
The Mount Oscar Project is well placed, being 25km south of the port of Cape Lambert and close to proposed multi-user Ankatell Point port. The project is close to existing roads, rail and towns such as Karratha, the major regional centre.
Two drilling programmes have been completed testing two discrete targets. Both programmes returned encouraging intersection widths and iron grades, and metallurgical testwork is ongoing with the intention of producing saleable concentrates from both targets.
Apollo Minerals' Commonwealth Hill tenements are located near to some of South Australia's world-class uranium, iron ore and base metal projects including the iron oxide-copper-gold-uranium (IOCGU) deposits at Olympic dam and Prominent Hill.
Interpretation of ground magnetic data collected in 2009 has indicated strong potential for considerable intersections of magnetite-rich mineralisation.
